The incision is done behind the ear. It helps set back the ear to a more normal position without excessive tension. This helps getting a more natural look. It is done under local anaesthesia.

Dressing should be kept for a week. Headband used at nighttime for a month. Normal activities are started progressively the week after surgery.
Getting ready for ear surgery
All patients need to stop: smoking, taking blood thinners medications. Nothing to eat and drink before the surgery. The skin needs to be cleaned with antiseptic soap on the day of the surgery.
Swelling, bleeding, fever, redness, wound discharge. Infection, bleeding. Suboptimal results. Recurrent ear deformity.
